Information and Resources

Parents only feel able to make choices and decisions when they have access to the appropriate information. Therefore, ensuring that you are provided with information and resources is one of our important tasks.

Information is available through Broad Insight Group around a range of topics:

• Child Development – ages and stages, the importance of play, developmental differences
• Children’s Services – Playgroups; Preschools; Childcare; Local activity groups e.g. gym / swimming programs; Toy Libraries
• Children’s Support Services – Local Council supports
• Parenting – Common themes; Parenting a child with additional needs; Child Behaviour and its management
• Family Support – Parent Support Groups; Family Support Agencies; Community Organizations e.g. Association for Children with a Disability; Transport needs
• Respite Services – Local Council options
• Funding Support – Early Choices eligibility; Government benefits – e.g. Carer’s Allowance; Preschool, Childcare and School - additional funding schemes for your child

Parent Library

Parents are encouraged to explore the displays and information available at Broad Insight Group, at our Broadmeadows site.  A small parent library with a range of books and leaflets is available in the foyer and the lending system open to all interested people. ECAS-N, our partnership service for children with autism, located at Yooralla Glenroy, also holds an extensive range of books about Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In addition to the informal sharing of information between parents, early childhood staff and BIG staff, family / carer education sessions are provided by Broad Insight Group staff and invited speakers.  Day and evening sessions are offered.  A calendar of events for each half year is planned in response to a questionnaire and discussion with parents.  Parents and carers are encouraged to request any topics of specific information that would interest them.

A Newsletter filled with information about services, local activities and upcoming BIG / Community events is distributed termly.  Please contact us if you would like to be on our mail / e-mail list

This is an opportunity to take part in an information and discussion session on support and services in the community.
Find out about support groups, respite options, school holiday programs and advocacy.
